Ask.com is making a bid to be the foremost search engine. It is letting people to allow their search requests not to be stored in a data banks. Most other search engines store it for several months but it would be gone from Ask's server extremely fast. I'm not sure what to think of it. It sounds cool, so that way its inaccessible to hackers.
Ok let this article be a lesson to all who read it. Don't make threats to shoot up your school online. The police will take it very seroiusly. If you don't believe me, a student from Loyola Maramount University was arrested for posting a threat on a chat room. Don't let this happen to you.
So here's something kind of creepy. Apparently, a digital scrapbook can be put on a tombstone that is solar powered and diplays pictures of the person. It cost about $2000. It's a little freaky for my tastes. Slaes on it are slow right now, but there could come a time where you an walk through a graveyard and just look at pictures of people...weird. Read more in this article.
Microsoft enters the Web 2.0 era with Office Live workspace. It will allow document sharing online and allow people to help edit. It's basically a collaboration tool. It should start a new trend in the use of the internet. If you would like to learn more read this article.
According to this article, A nuclear lab in Tennessee recieved about 1,100 phishing e-mails. These were linked back to China. Even though these e-mails were linked back to China, it is not linked to the Chinese government so they are not positive if it was a form of internet warfare. We'll see how this plays out in the future.
Amazon has announced that it will be investing in an alternative payment method called Bill Me Later. Bill Me Later is on par with Paypal, for those familiar with it. Bill Me Later is offered through CIT Bank and has a significant share. They also have low credit card fees. This should be interesting to see how this pans out.
Apparrently the Rover that is on Mars right now is in danger of being lost. It got hit by a sandstorm and lost most of its energy. NASA is currently trying to get the rover to a plateau where it can aim its solar panels and hunker down for the winter. Hopefully it can be recharged and continue its mission. I just found this article amusing and wanted to share.
I work at borders and I'd like to think we made amazing progress. We have these registers that look like old school Commodore. Well a recent development happened. We used to have to look on the computer to find Rewards members, but now on the crappy old register we can now look it up from there. I thought I would have a heart attack. It's amazing how simple application of databases can make things easy.
Has anyone actually met anybody on myspace? I have personally. It's an interesting way to meet people. I actually got a very close friend out of it. Many people wouldn't dare think of it or even dream of trying, but isn't life meant to interact with other human beings? Yes precautions should be taken, especially for the ladies, because it could be a crazy. talk to the person and find out about them. What do you think about it?
