We have updated and finalized our page for Iteration 3. Thanks for the input from Tobias and Jessica: removing the alert box; enhancing design and layout using CSS and table element. We added error handling if either Google API or Yelp API do not give a response back.

We just completed integration of our fourth API which is Yelp API. Please review and give us any feedback for our Iteration 3.
About our mashup:
1. retrieve and display user and user's friends data (interests and location) from FaceBook.
2. locate places (from user data) using AJAX Search and display map using GoogleMap.
3. provide review of selected search result from Yelp service.
FYI: we are going to enhance the layout/design and turn off the alert box for our final project.

I just went to your page and see the changes on your code, specifically at your css code. However, I'm using IE6 and as you mentioned before, the page is still having layout issue with IE6. One suggestion that you might want to consider is to use table element to display the list of search result. Good luck guys!

Great jobs guys! I just went to your page again and tried all the functionalities, they all work well: the ending address has a default value from Ashley's restaurant; the default zip code for starting address is 48197; and adding driving direction option on info marker. Good luck on your presentation guys!
One thing that I noticed from using mapquest webservice is that if I put incorrect address (eq. Seattle, WA, 48197), it gets prioritized by the zip code value, while using googlemaps, it gets prioritized by the city/state value.
You guys did a tremendous job! Your mashup is very useful to many of us. One suggestion is to put a "legend" to explain what green/red marker means. As for the functionality, it seems to be working well, except for one scenario.
Please use my facebook login:
1. username: jaka.robertson2@gmail.com, password:'jobfriends' (without the single quote)
2. put "administrator" as the keyword
3. Map will display 3 green markers (in WA, MI, TX) and 1 red marker (in CA).
4. Click on any green marker, it won't display the list of the jobs.
I just tried to use your mashup, it's pretty nice. You guys did a great job on this! After reviewing your page, I have couple suggestions that you might want to consider:
1. Since you put Ashley's Restaurant as a default InfoMarker, then put Ashley's address at the "Ending Address" as well.
2. Error handling. When I click "Get Direction" without "Starting Address", MapQuest assumes the starting address is from "somewhere in Colorado area".
Good luck guys on your presentation!
As I mentioned on my previous blog, SERENA launched Mashup Maker for business users. And I just read an article about SERENA just began shipping their product called Serena Business Mashups 2008 platform. The tools are free but pricing for mashups deployment via full installed version begins at $10,000. I still haven't got a chance to try the tool yet, hopefully soon once I finished Project Iteration 3 :)
I heard so many complaints about Windows Vista, however, I just came across article that talks about security threats. And I just found out that Vista operating system is more secure compare than others as Halvar Flake, CEO of security firm Zynamics, explained. In addition to that, Microsoft has always been investing a lot of money on security for their products, even though we're not really sure a good result could come up with that much of money, because hackers always find a way to hack :)
I started to do my Mini Project 3 by utilizing Yelp API a week ago, but now I have incorporated two more APIs (googlemaps and AJAX search) into it. Initially, the page would only display two pieces information of a place, the name and address by taking phone number as the input. I thought that it wouldn't be so useful. And plus, since our project (InterestLocationFinder) is using these three APIs anyway, I took another step to incorporate all of them into my Mini Project 3 page. Now user is able to get full benefit from these 3 APIs, rich search results (from AJAX Search), ratings info (from Yelp) and user friendly map (from GoogleMaps). There is no limitation on what users can search on the mashup, however, if AJAX Search or Yelp could not find related info, then an alert message will pop up. Pi Corporation, based in Seattle, is working on a product called Smart Desktop. Jon Herlocker, vice president of of engineering Pi Corporation, describes Smart Desktop as a program that is designed to group information by project. It unifies the information into a single view, so all the various files (from Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Project, FireFox, Excel, etc) will be displayed accordingly. Smart Desktop works with Microsoft applications, Adobe Acrobat, Google Docs and Zoho Sheets. There are some other companies working on products of this type and Microsoft is one of them. Microsoft develops a product called Center for Information Work.
