Web 2.0 in Auto Body Repair and Home Building

| | Comments (1)

I just watched Dave Henderson clip from MichiganInnovators.org about Web 2.0 in Auto Body Repair and Home Building. His idea is that customers of body shops would be able to see online the progress of their cars being repaired from beginning to the end. He is also applying the same concept for home building business as well. The brilliant idea came to his mind when he saw a customer with a digital camera on his pocket and thought that he would take pictures of cars at the body shop so that the customer would know what is going on with their cars. (Of course his peers were laughing at his idea). He also mentioned about "everything is about perception", well-informed customers would be more lenient towards delays if they knew what is going on with their cars/homes. Pictures can paint a thousand words easily, so it would satisfy customers if they could see themselves the whole process and its progress.

body.jpgI really like the idea of his because I had my own experience about fixing car at body shops. When I had to fix my front bumper car, I didn't know which body shop that I could trust. It was because I heard horror stories about most of body shops' employee would abuse the cars just because it's Monday or it's Saturday. They hate Mondays because not enough time for the weekend. They hate Saturday because they still have to work on Saturday. So the best days to fix your car is only between Tuesday through Friday. But now, if I ever had to go to Auto Body Shop, I would not have to worry about all this stuff anymore, just to make sure I'd go to body shops with this kind of service.

Actually this is a great idea. It's funny and actually really cool how far technologies come. I think there's a perception that most auto body places rip people off with time because customers are being charged by the hour. It's hard to believe they're being charged one full hour for 30 minutes of work so this is a great idea.

Or the customers can just open up the yellow pages or go online and find someone mobile to come to there place and fix it right then and there without any camera :) lol...

cool post though...love the read :P
