Many of us own laptop Macs or know of someone who does. Mat Lu at tuaw.com has a nice and short list of gift ideas for the mobile Mac user. Well that's last weeks news! The big rage with the die hard faithful it the dock bar. Users have created hundreds of replacements for the new Leopard "shelf" dock. Now we are starting to see apps to do nothing but modify the dock. You would think people have forgotten that Apple released an entire OS and not just a new dock... I was very excited when Google added IMAP feature to Gmail and Apple gave us support in Mail 3.1. Now it's driving me CRAZY!

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is in simple terms, where mail is stored on a remote server -No not anyone can access it just like they can't with POP- and is manipulated on that server. Sorry can't think of a clearer explanation right now.

During the day I often move between 5 computers. If I read mail on one machine it will show as being read on the next. If I move mail to a another folder it will be in that folder on the next machine. Same would be true for mail I reply too and so on. I don't need to download mail again to each machine and try to remember what I have done as I do with POP.

Lately, Gmail refuses to delete messages. I'm constantly deleting the same messages and having a hard time figuring out what is going wrong. GRRRmail is what it has become. Not to memtion it also thinks mail from my .Mac Account belongs to it too on my iMac still running under Tiger.

Guess I will be keeping track of discussion on places like Mac OS X Hints to get a grip on IMAP and Gmail.

For that Mac application it's a simple answer. It would be Quicksilver. No one Application on my Mac is so simple, versatile and useful to access anything on my Mac. Everything is just a couple of keystrokes away.

For Firefox it was surprisingly simple answer as well. My most important Plugin would be Locale Switcher. A simple click followed by a restart of Firefox and I can be working in any language I have and xpi file install for that language. Shame on the developers for think we all only use English.

How about you? If you could only install one, what App. or Program would it be? What Firefox Plugin would it be?
