Thank You Everyone

|

Since I am just about sick of studying for all of these exams, I wanted to take the time to thank everyone for their help and suggestions throughout the semester. The blogs overall really made things significantly easier in terms of acquiring help. Hopefully everyone does well on their exams and good luck in your future academic adventures and / or careers. I wish everyone the best and I hope to hear great things down the road.

When I run for the House of Representatives I hope to receive all of your votes. Yes... I am already campaigning.

Lastly, I am announcing that this is going to be my final blog so I leave you with something that I came across. I am not sure how I encountered this but if you want to be a millionaire, here is where to start.

NoSpace Iteration 3

|

Nospace is now a final product although we feel that after the number of users increases and gives us more feedback there are still things that could be done that we have not thought of yet. We achieved our objective of creating a unique mashup, avoiding all of the most commonly used apis and things turned out well. The powerpoint is not up on the web yet, so look for James Turner to throw that in a blog post on Monday including a link to it. However, if you are looking for something to review to fill the blog post requirement check this out now (and create an account if you want).

Job Friends

|

Although Job Friends has taken a few bumps and bruises along the road, they have created an awesome product that is sure to recieve mass use if i gets out there. They definitely need to turn it into a facebook app. Being in IS 449 with these guys I have watched the evolution of this and they were always making progress and fighting through problems. If you have not tried this out yet give it a shot.

Once again, congrats to these guys for making facebook work. Their continued vision and drive to success really helped them. Great job guys!!!!

Re: HDTV

|

In response to Kyle, at my house we now have 3 HDTVs and my dad is extremely into Planet Earth. I will say that Planet Earth is trully amazing in HD. We have a new 50 inch and it is really really cool on that. In fact my dad just recently purchased the entire HD DVD collection about a week ago (yes we have an hd dvd player too). Now you all have to be asking yourself how we have all this stuff. Well my brother has had some very cold thanksgiving evenings starting at 11 pm and ending at about 7 am Black Friday.

Overall this technology is amazing and is rapidly improving. Now if only the the HD channels could all display in 1080p our newest TV will be really sweet. It is still cool with the older 720 technology though.

Re: Wireless in the Sky

|

Nick, that is a great Wall Street Journal drop. Way to check in on that. Anyways, I find this article very interesting as well. In-flight wireless will give business travelers the opportunity to check emails surf the net, making them more likely to choose Jet Blue. It is another thing that will give them competitive advantage in a very tough industry to gain an advantage. At this point you can pretty much access the net anywhere. Who would have thought that something like this would run our daily lives and be so helpful. I just dont know what we would do without our Internet access.

Congrats - Mini Project #3, IS 449

|

Well, we have pretty much all but wrapped up our IS 449 class with only the final Iteration of our overall project to carry out. That said we have also survived all of the mini projects with minimal overall damage. I am not saying that it was all that easy because I am not really that big of a fan of programming and had my struggles, but it was not too bad either. Good luck on the rest of your presentations and exams.

To those that are graduating (like myself), congrats on that as well and good luck in the future!!!

USA Today - the economy and tech gowth

|

This is one of those articles that does not indicate a particularly great future for IT but what are you going to do? In this article in the Wall Street Journal it is said that the slowdowns in the economy are likely to slow down the tech growth. Yes, this means that we dont have to continuously change the software that we are working with and the systems that we are working on but it may also limit the number of jobs out there available (in my opinion). Hopefully the economy will kick itself up and get it together causing the tech boom to be revived.

Re: Yankees Who

|

For my second totally off topic blog post of the semester I have to shed a little more light on the new and improved Tigers. In response to Nathan, the Tigers are going to be great with these new additions. We have some serious power throughout the lineup and Cabrera may be the most powerful of any of them. Did you know that he has been mentioned with names like Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle in terms of talent. That is rediculous. He is a future hall of famer. Also, the D-train will be much better with Pudge behind the plate. He was great in Florida until Pudge left so that should make him better than advertised.

With all of this going on I am greatly looking forward to the season and the warm weather that follows it.

I know that there are other baseball fans in our class and I would like to hear what they have to say.

Oh yeah, I was not a big Cameron Maybin fan but Andrew Miller is a definite loss. But its ok. You cant get something for nothing.

The Lions

|

I really do not write any totally off topic entries but this is going to be one. The Lions are absolutely terrible. I have to believe that their wins must have been by default. However, Adrian Peterson was quite helpful in terms of fantasy points so I cannot complain there. I know there are other people out there on the blogs that have a few off topic posts to write so throw it out there. Do you feel that these are the same old Lions? Are they better than last year? 23 rushing yards... how does that happen? Do they have any chance of making the playoffs? Fire Millen?

They are frustrating to watch!

Google Expanding

|

If I had Google's money I would probably be expanding too or at least thinking about it.

Google is planning on bidding for wireless spectrum in the near future according to USA today. This would make Google a wireless service provider as well as the leading search engine provider. The price is expected to be $4.6 billion dollars which sounds like a lot of money but I am sure that Google can handle it. If Google was a person they may carry that in their wallet. Besides, it is another investment that will pay for itself.

Skip the discussion of facebook taking over the world. We need to start talking about Google in this context.
