Dennis Blanchette

I checked out the interview with Dennis Blanchette on the security and privacy tradeoffs which ended with a great point. Who's privacy is being talked about? I think the security certainly hinges on the fact that the security is somewhat a factor of privacy and vice versa. I found it interesting that the medical field was mentioned in this segment because this is an area were privacy has really taken off in terms of Hippa. My father works in the medical field and there are a lot of new restrictions on what they can and cannot access. Security of medical files as improved a lot and the access to these files has changed dramatically in recent years. However, the protection of the people that own the data also is another end to the spectrum as hospitals now have to be sure that their data as well as things like patient data are secured simultaneously.

I just found it interesting and showed it to my dad who had some thoughts on the issue himself. Being that he has been in the medical field so long and the storage/access of information has changed so much, he said that he is just about sick of the whole process.
