It’s about time that the dictionary started recognizing some of the slang that has been created over the last decade or so, but it sounds like some people are not happy about it. In the article entitled "Word-of-the-Year Ritual Pauses for Puzzlement" on person was quotes as saying
We are, however, crossing our fingers that next year Merriam-Webster’s “word of the year” is actually a word. That doesn’t contain numbers. That isn’t shorthand for something else.Oh well, some people still argue about the fact that ain't is in the dictionary. One of my teachers once said something like "just because it is in the dictionary does not mean it is a word, it just means it is something that people need help defining." How many people know what w00t means? Seems to me that it needs defining, so it needs to be there.
Earlier this week I blogged about WiFi on JetBlue flights. Well, the author of that article got a chance to try out one of the beta flights. Seems they have a lot of bugs to work out still. If you want to know how the test went check out the latest article.
I might have to miss class tonight. I have a doctors appointment for my daughter at 2:30 in Grass Lake. Depending on how she is and what the roads are like will depend on if I make it tonight. If I am not there could someone let me know what we covered? Thanks.
Dell is getting into the tablet PC market. Although, it is at a cost of $2500.00 a pop. Dell thought it would be a great time to get into the market since those entering the workforce are use to dealing with new technology and coupled with VIsta's capabilities, there is some great potential for growth. If the price tag is a little high for you, just wait a year and it will come down.
Don't want other knowing what you are searching for online. Ask.com has introduced a feature called AskErase. AskErase eliminates the link between user and search terms. It will not completely discard the information as Ask.com has an agreement with Google advertising that requires a query, but it will eliminate it from prefilling in the search box. Give it a try and see how it works.
Since you can get internet access pretty much any where now, why not while you're flying. Several airlines have been testing Wi-Fi in the sky for monthes, but many do not offer it on all planes yet. Four airlines: American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Virgin America, and JetBlue, are all hoping to have their WI-Fi connections available on all planes by the end of next year. Should be interesting to see what happens. Everyone sits so close together on planes that you will have to watch what you are surfing for.
If you thought it was great in the Karate Kid movie when he caught the fly on his first try, you might try the new Wii game entitled "Ninja Reflex". Not only can you learn the skill of catching flies, but you can learn skills that will help you sneak out of the house at night (or work early). You will have to wait until March to try the game out for yourself.
Microsoft has started to offer Volta for Web Development. For those of you who are interested in going further in web development and design, you might want to check out this article. There is even a link to test out Volta if you are interested.
AMD delays its new chip again. I think that it sucks that they are having problem, but I commend them for delaying selling the product. I think too often companies try to sell products that are not ready for the consumer. I think it also shows that AMD is looking out for its customers instead of itself. Good job AMD.
