For those of you who think myspace is just for fun, you might want to take a look at this article. They did a survey on myspace concerning the up coming election campaign and the results might suprise you. Not only are those on myspace concerned about the war on terror, they are also concerned about the environment and imigration.

It’s about time that the dictionary started recognizing some of the slang that has been created over the last decade or so, but it sounds like some people are not happy about it. In the article entitled "Word-of-the-Year Ritual Pauses for Puzzlement" on person was quotes as saying
We are, however, crossing our fingers that next year Merriam-Webster’s “word of the year” is actually a word. That doesn’t contain numbers. That isn’t shorthand for something else.
Oh well, some people still argue about the fact that ain't is in the dictionary. One of my teachers once said something like "just because it is in the dictionary does not mean it is a word, it just means it is something that people need help defining." How many people know what w00t means? Seems to me that it needs defining, so it needs to be there.

I might have to miss class tonight. I have a doctors appointment for my daughter at 2:30 in Grass Lake. Depending on how she is and what the roads are like will depend on if I make it tonight. If I am not there could someone let me know what we covered? Thanks.

Four airlines: American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Virgin America, and JetBlue, are all hoping to have their WI-Fi connections available on all planes by the end of next year. Some of the comments and quotes reminded me of first graders arguing over a toy. "mine is better" "no mine is better" "uh uh" "is too".
Who is really responsible...

Check out this article about one prankster on Myspace. Apparently a mother and daughter thought it would be a good idea to create a profile and convince the girl's classmate that they were actually a guy who was interested in her. After getting the gossip they want, the proceeded to demean her and harass her. At which point she finally decided to take her own life.

Now after readying this, I am appalled. At what point have we stopped holding adults accountable for their actions. The mother's defense was basically "I did not mean to hurt her" and "there are no laws against what I did." PLEASE! She knew what she was doing was not right. If she would have been saying some of the same comments to the poor girl in person she would have been held accountable. And if she would have been holding a gun that accidentally went off even though "she did not mean to hurt her" she would have been held responsible. Way should she get away scott free because it was done over a computer and not face to face?
