I honestly would've like to have one more weeks time on my personal mini project. All and all I thought that I was one of the best parts about the class. Gave us the students a chance to really dive in and get dirty with APIs.
The toughest part for me on them was that I couldn't figure out which API to use. Good times.
The end is here today our last offical IS449 class. The last class in the EMU CIS department that students take. A class filled with AJAX, snowboards, and pizza deliveries.
A great class I must say. I've learned a lot. It will be interesting for the next semester class if they change the course out look to Ruby on Rails. I think it would give graduates the real edge they need over those coming out of bigger universities. Good luck students and enjoy.
Honestly if I had to choose one place and one place only to live it would be Vail, CO. I've travel from the New York to California, from Michigan to Florida and I've never need anything more beautiful than the sun setting over the rocky mountains.
Everytime I've ventured to Vail I've felt it harder and harder to come back to Michigan. Not that I wouldn't miss my friends and family, its just that I love it there. The air is fresh and clean. The people are nice. There are a million activies to do at anytime during the year.
So if you've never been I present you with an open invite to get on a plane where ever you are and just go.
I love medical science. I think it may be the most interesting thing since slice bread. The powers that we hold in science is amazing. I was recently surfing on Slashdot (another great site) and notice and interesting articles about science.
Kidney Cells Make Implantable Power Source the title read as I scanned through the page. A bit from the article read, "One of the potentially useful things that a living cell can do is pump ions across its membrane. Simon Levinson, a biophysicist at the University of Colorado Medical School in Denver, US, says this generates a potential difference and so could be exploited to make a biobattery." A BioBattery? That crazy. Wonder if my cells are Duracell or not? Ha.
As my trackback links back to Steveo's post about Friday its true. You all are more than welcome to attend and we'd be more than welcoming and happy to see you all. I can write nearly as great of a post as he did but its going to be great.
Live is a great place for those who haven't been. The atmoshere is similar to bars in NYC, Vegas, LA, Chi-Town but with an Ann Arbor twist. They have live bands from 10pm - 12am, then the dancing shall begin. They've got a wide selection for everyones taste. They have a VIP section for everyone with black leather couchs places around the bar. Come all and enjoy this time with us.
It here...the day we've worked 16 straight years for. We looked to this day before we even started school. It was the goal of our young adult hood. Well ladies and gents its here. This is our last week (some next week, mine this week), our last few days before we enter the "real world".
Unlike most I didn't start my career at good old Eastern Michigan University. I began my college career just down the street at Washtenaw Community College. Its interesting they say the average person changes their major anywhere from 3-5 times. I thought for sure that would happen to me. Sure as shit it did. Ha. I started wanting to do CIS at UofM, then moved towards a Lawyer, Plastic Surgen, and a Finanical Planner. All leading me back to CIS at EMU. It's been a great ride, I've met some great people, learn some good information, had some great times, and even had some great teachers (Mr. Gibson). So take care of the learning remix after we leave and enjoy IS449 class of 2008
Ok as I was just writing my last posted I was on Facebook looking over the Job Friends application page and saw an ad on my left which was a white thong with an orange old english "D" on the front of it. The ads heading was "Down with Detroit." So I clicked it to find out what the hell this marketing was about and it took me here.
Facebook needs to clean these ads up. As we all saw in class a few weeks ago with the shady ad of the surfer girls lower half. I understand sexy sells, but I found Facebook more classy than MySpace. Though now with this advertising they're doing, they seem to be heading towards MySpace. I'm disappionted Facebook.

If you haven't noticed our fellow classmates, the Job Friends group now has an application on Facebook. Way to go guys. I added this application to my profile yesterday and apparently the Simply HIred API went down. I just tested this it again and it looks like the Simply Hired API might still be done. But either way awesome job guys.
Their mashup has just recently been approved. Someone posted on the boards about how its a great mashup. If only the Simply HIred API can keep from crashing, this could do really well on Facebook. Also if it does Jessica and Tobias are going to pay for Steve and I to go to Germany to visit them this summer.
I've decided to write a blog about the blogs that we write for IS449. I think its a great idea and keeps people involed in the class more than just in the classroom. But honestly I think 5 a week is a little much. I personally would like to have that number down to 3 a week. At 5 a week I'd like to be able to write about technology for 3 of those and then the other 2 to be about anything else going on.
Blogs can be a great source of expression and delivery how tos. But with the 3/2 setup it would give students the chance to stay involed with technolgy while still being able to blog about things they find important. Overall I think that the idea has great potential and would only suggest to change the style/amount per week.
