This is an interesting article explaining how author 'Lou Rosenfeld', who is founder of Rosenfeld Media is using new technology for marketing a book. In his innovative approach to marketing, Lou creates a blog for the book very shortly after signing an author, These blogs gain very high search engine visibility for their topics, well before the book is published. To add on to the traditional media, Lou also does push marketing through social media where he invites people to invite their friends to surveys they have completed. In this way, he is actually able to develop a network map of influence in his target markets.

I don't have any personal experience with social media, but i believe Lou is doing the right thing by combining social media with new technology.
