Home Automation
Home Automation and the possibility of smart Stoves, Refrigerators and other devices have interested me for a long time. I automated my first house back in the late 70’s and had the ability to control my stereo, lights, lamps and even my furnace with a hand held remote or computer interface. Today, I still have the same ability but with more options than ever. There are devices to open and close drapes, feed the dog or cat, and even a way to dial a remote location and check on things. You can even use a browser to view, and control, video from a remote web cam.
I am able to program lights to come on at a certain time, and brightness, or a random time within an hour and I can program the same light to go off at a random time within an hour. This is a great security feature. I can have one light turn on or all lights turn on if a motion sensor is tripped. The really nice thing about all this is that it is not that expensive. I am really surprised that I don’t see more of this technology in use today.
