Jan Davies McDermott: Getting to the Root Cause

Jan Davies McDermott: Getting to the Root Cause In this interview, Jan Davies McDermott, explains how the Southeast Michigan Chapter of the Women Presidents Organization help each other resolve problems related growth with their second stage businesses. “Second stage companies have over $1 million (service) or $2 million (manufacturing) in revenue and have begun to experience problems related to growth beyond the early entrepreneurial venture.”

Jan Davies McDermott facilitates the discussion of the problem that relates to one member, which is based on a technique used by the Edward Lowe Foundation called PeerSpectives.

Over time the members develop a trust relationship between themselves, which helps them get to the “Root Cause” of the problem rather than just treating the symptom.

One reason this works, according to Jan Davies McDermott, is because "entrepreneurs are strong individuals who will accept advice from other strong individuals who have the credibility of having gone through the same issues."

This seems like an excellent way for businesses to get advice and ideas about problems they face while growing their business.
