Auto Watch, an interesting idea

| | Comments (1)

I just watched the interview "Web 2.0 in Auto Body Repair and Home Building" with Dave Handerson. As I was interested in the Idea and how it works I checked the website of some companies that uses this System. I was especially interested in how they handle with the privacy of the staff and the owner.

For example here you can click on your car ID and see the progress of the car in pictures.
I thought a webcam makes the pictures in a given period. As I saw, the staff makes them, after they were finished with a part of the work. So there are no problems with the privacy of the staff. But I think in Germany you would have problems with privacy if you give the access to look at the cars everybody in the Internet.

I checked some other companies using this system and found the page of Universal Auto Body where they give only access after entering the Vehicle ID.

I still didn't get the classification of Web 2.0 in this topic. Maybe I'll get this in one of the other interviews or in one of the next classes.

Nice post. Keep up this level of detail. I think Web 2.0 comes from the idea that many people are contributing to the whole value proposition. It grows based on more people participating.
