Gphone not an iPhone rival

| | TrackBacks (2)

The new Gphone will not be a rival to the iPhone, but a rivial to Microsofts' Windows Mobile, or other operating software for Mobile devices. So google is expected to go well beyond the offers of their searchengine and Maps for mobile devices today. The first version is expected at the end of this year and the new technology could be available next year.

The software is interesting for many manufactures because unlike Microsoft Google is not expected to charge phone makers for the software. But the problem is, that most carriers has their own mobile Internet portals and want to get money through mobile advertising as well. So this won't be easy to get them to sell phones with the google software on it and not the portal to the carrier.

So I am anxious to see what the first version will look like.
